It was W.S. Keyes who planted the first vines on Howell Mountain back in 1888. Ten years later, and a mile down the road, fellow Howell Mountain pioneer, Frederick Hess, established the La Jota Vineyard — named after the property’s location on the Mexican land grant Rancho La Jota — and built a stone winery which still stands today. Both men won medals for their wines at the Paris Exposition of 1900, which brought instant recognition to Howell Mountain as a world-class wine growing region. Today, La Jota Vineyard Co. proudly carries on this great winemaking tradition by producing small lots of mountain Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc from the winery’s estate vineyard and nearby W.S. Keyes Vineyard. Both sites sit between 1,700 and 1,900 feet in elevation and are surrounded by pine, fir, oak and madrone trees. While growing grapes in the nutrient-lean, volcanic soils of these vineyards is a challenge, the rewards are undeniable. Highly concentrated flavors and muscular tannins slowly mature to perfection, while the cool winds, diurnal temperature swings, and high altitude keep the grape acids impeccably balanced.
["Country_USA","Finding_Inventory","memorial2023","PROMO","Region_Napa Valley","Size_750 ml.","Type_Red","Varietal_Cabernet Sauvignon","Vintage_2018","Volume_Discount","Winery_La Jota
"option1":"Default Title","option2":null,"option3":null
["Default Title
["//finding.wine/cdn/shop/products/1_c83ca4a8-775f-440f-af9c-7c37f05650da.png?v=1656031158
//finding.wine/cdn/shop/products/1_c83ca4a8-775f-440f-af9c-7c37f05650da.png?v=1656031158
Title

Country: USA

Region: Napa Valley

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon

Vintage: 2018 - Size: 750 ml. - Type: Red
The La Jota winery has deep roots in Napa Valley’s winemaking history.
