Bordeaux wines are recognized as one of the best in France and in the world. The Bordeaux wine region is located in the geographical region of Aquitaine, in southwestern France. The Bordeaux region is a very changing geographical area and the composition of its soils is very heterogeneous.
The main varieties of grapes used to make Bordeaux red wines are Merlot, which is the one grown in half of the Bordeaux vineyards, with fewer Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. In the production of white wines, the most used varieties are Sémillon and Sauvignon.
Bordeaux reds are usually balanced, fruity and delicate; while Bordeaux Supérieur are more intense and alcoholic wines. On the other hand, Bordeaux dry white wines are balanced, fruity and aromatic, while sweet whites are concentrated, sweet and fine wines.
