Mendoza has 5 relevant winemaking zones, these are: Zona Alta del Río Mendoza (Center-West), North Zone, East Zone, Valle de Uco, San Rafael (South). Where the most important varieties of grapes are: Chenin, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec. The Malbec variety is the most produced in Mendoza, even though Bonarda, Syrah and Tempranillo also stand out among its predominant varieties.

The province represents more than 60% of Argentina's wine production.
