Carneros means “rams” in Spanish. You will be able to see many of these rams, natural controllers of the weeds, along the hills and abundant vineyards. This AVA, located in the state of California, encompasses Napa and Sonoma and while many varieties are grown there, the place is already famous for its sparkling wines.
It is characterized by shallow, thin clay soils and a cooled climate due to the proximity with the São Paulo Bay, which makes it suitable for growing cooler climate varieties such as Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The first occupies a total third of the 2,600 hectares of the AVA, producing wonderful wines with a strawberry aroma and the latter covers almost half of the area. The wines you find here have excellent pairing potential and performance.
