This Community is especially known for the power and elegance of the Toro wines, the unmistakable white from Rueda, the clarets of the young Cigales, its unmistakable Tinta Fino from Ribera del Duero, the pleasant wines produced by the Berciano microclimate.
The most popular Castilla y León wines from this area are the reds, which according to the DO regulations. They must contain at least 60% of the variety Prieto Picudo or Mencia; being able to produce wines for aging, Crianza, Reserva and Gran Reserva.
For the production of whites, they use: Albarín, Verdejo, Godello, Palomino or Malvasía.
