DESCRIPTION

As our new label reflects, the Meredith Estate is in a class by itself and represents the pinnacle of Russian River Valley Pinot Noir. Our flagship bottling comes from the first vineyard ever owned by Merry Edwards. Her entry into the pantheon of great winemakers was assured when she took this step, and then carefully planned and nurtured the development of this vineyard. In the hands of Merry’s handpicked successor, Heidi von der Mehden, Meredith Estate is well on its way to achieving the immense potential it has displayed since the first vintage was released in 2000. You will see that the results are evident in this stellar vintage. The nose presents seductive, perfumed, floral notes that immediately lift from the glass. Creamy and round upon entry, this elegant wine slowly unfolds and reveals layers of Bing and black cherries, violets, baking spice and cocoa nibs. Well-integrated oak brings touches of vanilla and root beer. This is classic Meredith Estate with beautiful structure supported by well-balanced acidity and a slightly spicy, lingering finish.

Expert Notes

Wine Spectator: 93

“Suave and well-structured, this offers plum pastry and cherry tart flavors that show plenty of forest floor notes, with firm tannins and acidity. Engaging floral accents linger into the finish, showing lithe spiciness and richness.” Kim Marcus, Wine Spectator, June 2, 2021

Wine Enthusiast: 96

"A potpourri aroma leads to a soft, lushly layered core of baked fruit, with lifted acidity and broad tannins supporting this single-vineyard wine. White pepper and forest floor tones play along, showing the intensity often found from the site." Virginie Boone, Wine Enthusiast, November 2021
