Chardonnay
White - Vintage: 2014 - Size: 750 ml.
Great wines begin in the vineyard. Our vision is to make rich and unforgettable wines that are true to the special place they come from. The story of Catena is the story of Argentine wine.ÊFounded in 1902, Argentina's Bodega Catena Zapata is known for its pioneering role in resurrecting Malbec and in discovering extreme high altitude terroirs in the Andean foothills of Mendoza. The family'sÊAdrianna VineyardÊat almost 5,000 feet elevation has been called the Grand Cru of South America. The three milestone stages in the Catena family wine history have not only revolutionized the family winery, but also the Argentine wine industry in the last 50 years.
The 2014 White Stones Chardonnay, sourced from the Adrianna vineyard in Gualtallary where the soils are rich in limestone, felt marginally riper than the 2013, with some yellow fruit, faint minty notes and a powerful mouthfeel with pungent flavors and great persistence. It finishes with a very tasty, almost salty finish. Some 1,600 bottles produced.
James Suckling: 99
This is a fabulous white proving that Argentina can compete with the greatest whites of the world. Complex aromas of stones, lime, lemon, flan, meringue, and flowers. Hints of pie crust. Full body, with mineral, stone and electric acidity. Joyous. Drink now or hold. Made from organically grown grapes.
