The Lisbon region is vast and occupies a huge territory around the city that gives it its name, adding almost 10 sub-regions. You should know some of these sub regions, there you may find the mythical Colares with its almost eternal wines, the bucolic Bucelas, where the white wines from the Arinto caste mark their predominance, or the hot Alenquer with its powerful red wines.
The varieties are also emblematic and indigenous to the region, with the monopoly of the Ramisco (in the reds) and the Malvasia de Colares (in the whites) planted on loam in sandy soils resistant to phylloxera. The reds are balsamic, with a nice mineral acidity, dry and with a tannin that appreciates the evolution in the bottle, while the whites are mineral with saline and iodized aromas.
