Lindaflor La Violeta is the flagship cuvée of Bodega Monteviejo, an estate in Vista Flores owned by Henri Parent of Château La Violette (Pomerol). Only two internal blocks—“Quarters 5 & 9”—are reserved for this wine, giving extremely low yields. The old-vine Malbec sits at 1 200 m (3 950 ft) on stony, limestone-rich soils, where the sharp Andean diurnal shift intensifies colour, perfume and natural acidity.
Harvest takes place in late March/early April into 12 kg boxes. Every bunch is hand-destemmed, then whole berries undergo a 20-day cold soak inside rotating 225-L French-oak barrels; manual pigeage is performed daily. Fermentation continues in the same barrels before the wine ages 24 – 36 months in 100 % new French oak, followed by a further 5–7 years of bottle élevage prior to release.
The 2013 vintage—first released in 2022—saw a mere 9 200 bottles (≈770 cases) produced. It shows inky depth, layers of black-plum, blackberry-pie and violet aromas, plush yet firm tannins, and a vibrant mineral finish. Cellar potential easily exceeds two decades.
