Novelty Hill works in Washington, where nearly all the vineyard land sits east of the Cascade crest. Annual rainfall there runs in single digits of inches, so every vine is irrigated, and the soils are wind-blown loess over sand and gravel dropped by Ice Age floods. The Chardonnay here is from 2022.
