Sonoma Coast, approved in 1987, is enormous. It stretches from the Mendocino county line south to San Pablo Bay and takes in plenty of ground the ocean never touches. Two tighter boundaries were drawn inside it later, Fort Ross-Seaview in 2012 and West Sonoma Coast in 2022, which means a Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir from 2019 could have grown almost anywhere across that sweep. B. Wise used the wider name for this bottling.
