DESCRIPTION
Subregion: Montagne de Reims
Barnaut Grande Réserve Brut Grand Cru NV is a non‑vintage Champagne from Bouzy in the Montagne de Reims, crafted as a Pinot Noir–dominant perpetual cuvée (approx. 66% Pinot Noir, 33% Chardonnay). Sourced from Grand Cru sites and built on a long tradition of blending reserve wines dating back to 1874, this wine balances richness and precision. On the nose and palate you’ll find waxy red apple, pastry cream, candied lemon zest and tangerine layered over subtle smoke and charred toast. The mousse is fine and persistent, offering a creamy texture and chalky mineral lift that complements the wine’s ripe fruit core and restrained dosage (disgorged November 2017 with 6 g/L according to tasting notes). This is an excellent aperitif Champagne but also a serious table partner: it handles grilled fish, roasted poultry, shellfish and creamy cheeses with aplomb. Because the cuvée blends reserve wines and emphasizes structure, it drinks beautifully now for those who enjoy a textural, slightly smoky Grand Cru style, yet it will continue to develop complexity in bottle. For collectors and lovers of Pinot‑driven Champagne from Bouzy, Barnaut Grande Réserve offers a curated, food‑minded expression of village terroir with refined, toasty depth.
