Despite the name, Petite Sirah is not a smaller Syrah. It is Durif, a nineteenth-century French cross of Syrah and the obscure Peloursin, and it has long been more at home in California than in France, with Mendocino among its strongholds. Barra of Mendocino spells it the old American way — Petite Syrah — on this 2022 bottling.
