Cherry red, quite dark and dense showing a ruby red rim. Many aromatics, predominance of slightly candied black fruit reminiscent of plums, blackberries and cassis. Excellent structure with great intensity.

Trasnocho is Spanish for staying up through the night. The name belongs to this Tempranillo-based red from Remírez de Ganuza, whose vineyards lie around Samaniego in Rioja Alavesa, and the bottle here is the 2018. Alavesa is the coolest and most northerly of Rioja's three subzones, tucked beneath the limestone wall of the Sierra de Cantabria.
