Sercial ripens late at some of Madeira's highest and coolest vineyard sites. On the Portuguese mainland the same grape earned the nickname Esgana Cão, 'dog strangler', for its piercing acidity. Both travel with the grape into Broadbent's 10 Year Sercial.
