Chateauneuf-du-Pape permits thirteen grape varieties in its decree and allows only red and white wine, never rose. Brotte's Domaine Barville 2022 is a red under that appellation, which in practice means a Grenache-dominant Rhone blend. The zone itself covers roughly 3,200 hectares spread across five communes north of Avignon, with Orange and Courthezon among them.
