Marchigiana is the Italian term for someone from Le Marche, the region the Catena family left when they emigrated to Argentina in the late 1890s and started planting in Mendoza. The 2023 is Malbec, the grape Catena spent decades pulling back from bulk-wine duty through vineyard selections and higher-altitude plantings. Mendoza sits in the rain shadow of the Andes, so vineyards there are irrigated from snowmelt rather than fed by rainfall.
