Malbec reached Mendoza in 1853, when French agronomist Michel Aime Pouget brought cuttings to a government nursery, decades before the variety lost ground across much of southwest France. Catena Zapata, whose family has farmed Mendoza vines since 1902, bottles this 2022 under the name Malbec Argentino.
