Mercurey is the largest Côte Chalonnaise appellation by volume and is planted overwhelmingly to Pinot Noir, in a district where Chardonnay and Aligoté otherwise take up much of the land. The 2022 Mercurey Rouge from Château de Chamirey is a village-level red assembled from parcels across the appellation rather than a single climat.
