As an appellation, Medoc means the northern stretch of the peninsula beyond Saint-Estephe, and it is a separate name from Haut-Medoc to the south. Gravel thins and clay increases as you go north, and Merlot's share of the plantings rises with it. Chateau L'Eden's 2018 is a Bordeaux blend from that ground.
