Sauternes is picked in successive passes by hand, grape by grape, as botrytis concentrates the fruit on the vine, which pushes the harvest well into autumn. Château Suduiraut, a premier cru in the 1855 classification and a neighbour of Yquem in the commune of Preignac, bottled this 1988. Sémillon leads the blend, as it does across the appellation.
