Giulio Cocchi founded the firm in Asti, in Piedmont, in 1891. The Americano is built on Piedmontese Moscato, with gentian and cinchona bark among the botanicals that give the americano category its defining bitterness. No vintage appears on it, which is normal for an aperitif made to a fixed recipe.
