Mendocino marks the northern end of California's vineyard belt and is really two climates: valleys open to cool Pacific air, and warmer inland ground along the upper Russian River where the coastal ridges hold that air back. Grenache, late-ripening and Mediterranean in origin, wants the warmer half. Elizabeth Spencer's 2022 Grenache is drawn from that county.
