Growers in the Colli Berici, the hills south of Vicenza, spent generations calling their Carmenère something else, usually Cabernet Franc, until DNA work in the 1990s separated the two. The variety had all but disappeared from Bordeaux, its home, after phylloxera, leaving Chile and a few Italian pockets to carry it forward. Inama's Carmenere Più, 2023, belongs to that Colli Berici revival.
