Rutherford holds the middle of the Napa Valley floor, where creeks draining the Mayacamas have laid down alluvial fans of gravel and sandy loam against the western hills. That deep, quick-draining soil is part of why the district was planted so early, and why roots there travel a long way down for water. Blancaneaux is Inglenook's 2021 off the Rutherford estate.
