Joao Portugal Ramos made this 2020 Vila Santa Reserva in the Alentejo, the broad, hot interior of southern Portugal, as a blend of regional red grapes. Vinho Regional Alentejano is the wider designation that surrounds the stricter DOC Alentejo, leaving more latitude on grape choice and sourcing. It is also the corner of Portugal where Alicante Bouschet, a red-fleshed teinturier variety, found its most serious home.
