Chile has run a formal Denominacion de Origen system since 1995, splitting the country into regions and then subregions, zones and areas. In 2011 it added three cross-cutting terms, Costa, Entre Cordilleras and Andes, so a label can finally say where a vineyard sits between ocean and mountain and not only how far south it lies. La Parcelle, from the 2020 harvest, works inside that framework.
