Oregon holds itself to a tighter varietal rule than the federal 75 percent: for Pinot Noir and most other grapes, 90 percent of the wine has to be what the label says. Lemelson's 2023 therefore reaches at least nine-tenths Pinot Noir, drawn from a valley appellation that runs roughly 150 miles, Portland south past Eugene.
