Michel Girault's 2023 La Silecieuse is Sancerre in white. Vignerons on those hills sort their land into three soil families: terres blanches over Kimmeridgian marl, the limestone pebbles known as caillottes, and silex, outright flint. Sancerre also produces red and rose, both from Pinot Noir, so the word blanc on a label there does real work.
