Excellent label Mavrodaphne impresses for its elegance and the equilibrium. Rich and complex, with depth and exuberance, redefines that probably had in mind for Mavrodaphne.

Mavrodaphne is grown on the slopes behind Patras, in the northwest corner of the Peloponnese, and on Cephalonia across the water; outside those two pockets it is close to invisible. Reserve bottlings of the grape spend years in cask before they are sold, which is how a 2004 like this Parparoussis still turns up as a current release. It arrives in a 500 ml bottle, not the usual 750.
