Unlike his Beckstoffer bottlings, made from purchased grapes, Paul Hobbs farms the source of this 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon himself. The Nathan Coombs Estate sits in Coombsville, at Napa Valley's southeastern corner near the city of Napa. Granted AVA status in 2011, Coombsville runs cooler than the mid-valley thanks to air moving off San Pablo Bay, and its Cabernet ripens on a later schedule than the up-valley benchlands.
