Zinfandel ripens unevenly: shrivelled berries and green ones can sit in the same cluster, so pickers often work through a block more than once and sort at the crush pad. California's older head-trained plantings, many of them dry-farmed on deep inland benchland, carry small crops that make that spread easier to manage. Back Barn is Pozzan's 2023 Zinfandel.
