DESCRIPTION
From extremely steep, southwesterly-exposed terraces with meagre soils of Gföhler gneiss, this mineral-driven and pure Grüner exemplifies the extraordinary quality of this site.
The Wachau follows the Danube between Melk and Krems, and Achleiten, on the Weissenkirchen stretch of it, is a terraced site whose gneiss is shot through with amphibolite. Rudi Pichler's 2018 Grüner Veltliner is an Achleiten wine bottled at the Smaragd level.
