Chardonnay is a natural cross of Pinot and Gouais Blanc, a parentage established by DNA work in the 1990s rather than by tradition, and it is one of the most widely planted white varieties in the world. Ubiquity like that leaves the grape name doing little narrowing work, which is why the site does it instead: La Rinconada, from the 2022 harvest, is the name Sandhi bottles this one under.
