Barbera left Piedmont with Italian growers and took root across the Americas, Baja California included. Bodegas de Santo Tomas is named for the Valle de Santo Tomas, a coastal Baja valley roughly 65 kilometres south of the better-known Valle de Guadalupe. Its 2023 is a varietal bottling of that Piedmontese red.
