To label a Chianti Classico as Riserva, a producer must hold the wine two years plus a further three months in bottle before sale. Tenuta di Capraia's 2020 Sangiovese meets that requirement. Since 2014 the denomination has added a tier above it, Gran Selezione, which pushed the minimum aging to thirty months.
