This is not a wine but an amaro: a wine base infused with cardoon and blessed thistle, then bottled at liqueur strength in Piedmont. It belongs to the vino amaro branch of Italian bitters, which starts from wine instead of neutral spirit and therefore sits at lower proof than most amari.
