Tawny is the wood-aged Port style: the wine rests in cask, where slow contact with air pulls the color toward amber. Bottlings like this blend across several harvests, which is why no year appears and the Wine & Soul Manoella reads NV. As with all Port, grape spirit goes in during fermentation and stops it short, leaving sugar behind.
